Enable Page Breaks to Control Activity Layout

By default, every element in an activity sits on its own page. Turn on page breaks and you take the wheel: elements stay together on one page until you add a break, so you can group related questions, pace a longer activity, and shape a flow that feels natural for your clients. It is off by default, so existing activities keep working exactly as they did.

Turn on page breaks

  1. Open the activity in the builder and go to its settings.
  2. In the Page breaks section, turn on Enable manual page breaks. The Page breaks setting
  3. Save the activity.

Decide where each page begins

With the setting on, elements stay on the same page until a break tells the activity to move on. A new page starts in one of two ways:

  • Add a Page break element where you want the next page to begin.
  • Start a new section. Each section always begins a new page.

Everything between one break and the next shares a single page, so you control exactly how content is grouped.A page break in the activity builder

How progress is tracked

In the page break layout, progress is based on completed elements, not pages. In the classic one-element-per-page layout this made no difference, but with several elements on a page it does. For example, in an activity with 5 elements across 3 pages (3 on the first page, 1 on each of the others), finishing the first page brings the client to 60 percent. That keeps the completion percentage fair however you arrange the layout.
